Mr. Joshua Shoop is the Athletics Director and Student Activities Coordinator. He is a 1996 graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), earning a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Health and Sports Management. He was awarded a full athletic scholarship to play basketball and brought IUPs’ athletic program some of the most successful seasons in school history.
Mr. Shoop has 18 years of WPIAL experience serving as the Director of Athletics at the Pine-Richland School District and Director of Athletics for the South Butler School District. Prior to becoming a Director of Athletics, Mr. Shoop was also a varsity basketball coach for five years at Homer-Center High School and Knoch High School.
Under Mr. Shoop’s strong leadership, the Pine-Richland Athletic Program elevated itself into one of the elite athletic programs not only in the WPIAL, but in the state of Pennsylvania. Under his leadership, the program experienced enormous success including 10 section championships, over 60 teams reaching the WPIAL and/or PIAA playoffs, 8 WPIAL Championships, 2 PIAA Runner-ups, 2 PIAA individual champions, and 1 PIAA team Champion. Two players and one coach were selected as the Gatorade Player and Coach of the Year in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Shoop takes great pride and satisfaction in the number of student-athletes who have extended their athletic careers to the collegiate level in a wide variety of sports. Mr. Shoop raises the bar, demonstrating the desire to build strong relationships, set high expectations, and bring out the very best in our student-athletes and coaches.
Mr. Shoop has the Plum Borough School District measuring against the best. He emphatically believes to have success in athletics, all of these groups must focus on bringing out the potential in our student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom. Mr Shoop began his career at Plum in November 2018.
Mr. Shoop resides in Saxonburg, PA with his wife Angela, they have 2 sons, Benjamin age 7 in second grade and Ethan age 4 who is in Preschool.
