MEDICATION REGULATIONS
According to state law, medication cannot be administered to any student unless the nurse is provided with a signed order from a licensed prescriber. An order is required for all prescription medications, over the counter medications, and nutritional or herbal supplements. Any medication sent to school must be in the original manufacturer’s packaging or a properly labeled pharmacy medication bottle. School policy also requires signed parent permission. The pharmacy label on the bottle does not fulfill the requirement for a signed order.
