One-to-One Device Insurance Program

The Plum Borough School District has moved to a new device insurance program starting with the 4th-grade One-to-One Program rollout in the 2019-20 school year. Beginning July 1, 2020, all other students/families in the grade levels below will have the opportunity to enroll their students' devices into the new insurance program. Program renewals are based off of your students' graduating year and will be updated yearly. 

Note: All students/families participating in the One-to-One Insurance Program can enroll at any time. Students/Families who are not registered with insurance will be charged the full cost of the part/device broken until enrolled in the insurance program. (Please see service costs below)

What’s the difference between the old insurance program?

• Families will not have to pay annually to enroll their device into the One-to-One Insurance Program.

  • Families will only have to pay one time to enroll the device into the insurance program. The device will then be covered for the life of the machine. 

  • Following the one to one renewal schedule, here. Families will only have to pay to re-enroll into the One-to-One Insurance program when the student/s receive a new device based on the One-to-One Device Renewal Schedule.

• No more additional insurance deductibles for the life of the insured device.

  • Once enrolled in the program, Families do not have to pay any additional deductibles for any subsequent occurrence(s) for the life of the student/s insured device. 

• Insurance and Case Option.

  • Families who enroll in the One-to-One Insurance Program will now have the option also to purchase a discounted case while joining in the Program.

Insurance Costs for the HP Chromebook 11 G5 EE (Students in grades K-4 receive a bag.)

• $29.00 - 1 Year Insurance Only for HP Chromebook 11 G5 EE (Good until the end of 2020-2021 school year).

• $49.00 - 1 Year Insurance with case (GD BumpTech Case) HP Chromebook 11 G5 EE (Good until the end of 2020-2021 school year). Please note, you will not receive your case right away, it could take up to two weeks to receive your case.

Insurance Costs for the HP Chromebook 11 G6 EE

• $65.00 - Insurance Only for HP Chromebook 11 G6 EE (Good until the school year 2023-2024 when students will receive a new device)

• $80.00 - Insurance with case (GD BumpTech Case) HP Chromebook 11 G6 EE (Good until the school year 2023-2024 when students will receive a new device). Please note, you will not receive your case right away, it could take up to two weeks to receive your case.

Insurance Costs for the HP Chromebook 11 G8 EE (All students in grades K-4 will receive a carrying bag with their device.)

•  $110.00 - Insurance Only for the HP Chromebook 11 G8 EE (Good until the school year 2025-2026 when the students will receive a new device.)

Pay for Insurance 

• Online (Preferred) - Device Insurance Online Payment

• Checks and cash will be accepted if that is the only means of payment. All checks can be made out to Plum Borough School District. 

• The District will work with families who participate in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program on the insurance costs if needing assistance. Please reach out to your building Principal. 

What is covered?

• All physical components of the device.

• Theft of device WITH a police report.

What is NOT covered?

• Loss of device

• Loss of carrying case/protective sleeve

• Reasonable wear and tear (Examples may include: scratches, dents, worn keys, etc.)

• Damage as a result of reckless abuse or willful conduct

• NOTE: Chargers are NOT covered under this insurance program. If you lose your District provided charger, you can purchase one below, or you can buy one on your own based on the model of your Chromebook. When turning in your Chromebook at the end of its life cycle, you MUST have a charger with it.
