Due to the extensive impact of the recent severe storm, all schools within the Plum Borough School District will be closed on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Several schools are currently experiencing power outages and are relying on emergency backup generators. It is vital to note that these backup systems are not designed to sustain full operational capacity for an entire school day.
Regrettably, as of this announcement, full power has not been restored to numerous neighborhoods within the Plum Borough community. Based on current assessments and information from utility providers, it is not anticipated that these critical issues will be fully resolved by the morning.
Given the widespread power outages, remote instruction will not be provided on this closure day. Additionally, the district has determined that a makeup day for this instructional time will not be scheduled.
