One year ago, we covered a story on why vertical teams matter. The underlying goal was to make sure the District continuously worked on strategies to help our students succeed during the school year as they prepare for their entrance into the real world.
The District established vertical teams, same-subject teachers from grades K-12, as a method to improve curriculum, assessment, and instruction in the classroom. We also initiated alignment checks between grades that allow for effective and innovative teaching and learning.
Plum Borough School District continues to be committed to this strategy. The District instituted a department leaders system that increased teacher input into the teaching and learning process. The system includes a team leader and vertical staff. They share their experiences while examining, managing and implementing ideas, increasing teacher input into the teaching and learning process, ultimately benefiting our students.
