HOLIDAY PARK ELEMENTARY  |  ONE MINUTE READ

Holiday Park Elementary drama students presented 101 DalmatiansKIDS, a 30-minute adaptation of Disney’s animated film, 101 Dalmatians, in early March. It was a night full of energy and excitement as fourth- and fifth-grade students shared their hard work and talent with the community.

Students rehearsed twice a week in February and three times a week during production week. Students learned and memorized lines and music plus designed and created costumes, props, and set pieces.

Students were extremely excited and nervous about the production. For most of them, this play was their first musical experience. Due to this, Mrs. Boyle, Music Teacher at Holiday Park, wanted each student to have a positive, student-collaborative experience.

Parents were thrilled their children participated in a great opportunity at a young age.

Joey Natalia (who portrayed “Roger”) said, “I liked it, it was fun! I liked being a part of a group of actors! Thank you Mrs. Boyle for giving me this role! I’m gonna miss everybody but I’m looking forward to next year to help the 5th graders. I also look forward to being a part of the 6th grade production!”

“I loved every minute of working with all of my amazingly talented students,” said Mrs. Boyle. “They worked hard, always willing to try new things, and put themselves out there in a way that can be scary at their age!”

The performance was held prior to the President’s announcement to shelter-in-place and the district’s announcement to move classroom instruction online. Mrs. Boyle said,These students will remember this night the rest of their lives as happy and positive. Thank you for giving them that memory.”
