Dr. Shubhada Bhamre, Plum Senior High School Science Teacher, has been selected to be a member of the PA Academic Science and Technology Environment and Ecology Standards Content Committee. Dr. Bhamre is to serve as a content expert for new state science standards.
In September 2019, the State Board of Education placed a directive to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to begin the process of updating science standards. As a result, the PDE established the PA Academic Science and Technology Environment and Ecology Standards Content Committee to update state science standards and to align the standards with current research and best practices, including a review of Next Generation Science Standards.
Dr. Bhamre took interest in the position because she wants to help draft coherent science standards that provide educators across Pennsylvania a guide for science-specific content needs. She is interested in delivering applicable and relevant content to students across the Commonwealth irrespective of their backgrounds.
The Content Committee will have six full-day, virtual sessions beginning June 16, 2020.
Dr. Bhamre extends her appreciation to the Plum Borough School District administration and staff for supporting her through the application process. She is excited about serving in this capacity.
