Holiday Park Elementary (HPE) launched the Digital Escape Room Challenge, an innovative learning resource that helps students maintain their academic progress in math and reading over the summer months.

This platform featured interactive escape rooms filled with puzzles, codes, and secret areas that challenge students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills while false clues, misleading trails, deadlocks, and blind leads tested their patience and resilience.

The Escape Room Challenge was introduced to the District by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Student Government Association (SGA), and our own Technology Department. Students were introduced to these components:

            • Standards Based Questions & Content for ELA and Math

            • Links to Prodigy Math & Math Fact Fluency Practice

            • Audio Books Uploaded from 5th and 6th Grade Summer Reading Lists (Special thanks to HPE /PTA Funding)

            • Fun Challenges: Uploading Art in my community pictures, Summer STEM Challenges, HPE Active Challenge, & CHAMPS (Positive
              Behavior Management) Challenge

Principal Fran Sciullo, of Holiday Park Elementary, said “As a team, we were challenged with what it would take to create a dynamic summer reading and math program that would incorporate fun, learning, and technology. From there, the HP team took the 10,000-foot idea and brought it to life. We now have a program that our students can benefit from and still have fun over their summer break. PBSD is fortunate to have this creative team of educators who accepted this challenge and certainly delivered a quality learning experience for all students.”

We celebrated the 350 students who escaped the room! Keep an eye out for next year’s room for continuous learning and the chance to unlock the code!
