Mrs. Vicki Dziewsulski, Library/Media Teacher at Oblock Junior High and Holiday Park Elementary, has been nominated and selected for the School Librarians Leadership Academy through the University of Pittsburgh. She has also received an at-large selection within the state of Pennsylvania.

School Librarians Leadership Academy is a collaborative initiative of the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association (PSLA) and the University of Pittsburgh School Library Certification Program (SLCP). It is an innovative and immersive professional development experience designed to strengthen and support school libraries and their leadership.

Nominees must possess a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science, be a member of the PSLA, and currently working as a school librarian.

Mrs. Dziewsulski was nominated by fellow librarian Mrs. Kristen Rowe of the Pine-Richland School District. In her application, she outlined her vision for Plum Borough School District libraries that was endorsed by building principals. The Leadership Academy is a nine-month commitment that includes six virtual academy sessions, PSLS Summit activities in Harrisburg, Pa., and the PSAL conference from April 20 through May 2.

Vicki will work with librarians across the state to strengthen the library space for our students to develop and grow. She says, “I am extremely excited and honored to showcase the programs I created at Oblock and Holiday Park. I want to continue to strengthen the program and create more of a student-centered collaborative experience for all students.”
