Plum Students Are Achieving Great Things

As we move into spring, fresh energy is in the air.  It's a great time to celebrate our students' accomplishments while looking ahead to even bigger goals.  Their hard work, creativity, and dedication continue to strengthen our schools and community.  Learning is in full swing across our schools, and students are diving deeper into their studies, engaging in thoughtful discussions, and growing in their skills every day.

The newly adopted Portrait of a Graduate, a community-driven vision highlighting the key skills students need to succeed after high school, is a significant step forward for our district.  We are also in the midst of long-term planning to shape the future of our schools and ensure we continue offering the best education possible.  In addition, our Social Studies and World Language teachers are reviewing their programs and will soon make recommendations for updates.  Stay tuned for more on these exciting developments!

Creativity is alive in Plum!  Our high school students are preparing to wow audiences with their spring musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which will run from April 3 to 5 at Plum Senior High School.  Their hard work and passion for the stage promise to make this a must-see performance!

Music education is also taking center stage this month.  Plum hosted two PA Music Educators Association (PMEA) festivals, bringing together students from over 45 school districts to make music under the direction of top-level conductors.  Twelve Holiday Park students participated in SingFest, and nine participated in StringFest.  These experiences sharpened their musical skills and brought new energy to our school music programs.

Our winter sports teams have had an outstanding season, and spring sports are just starting!  Here are some of the top highlights:

  • Boys' and girls' bowling teams both won WPIBL championships.

  • Girls' varsity swim team won its first section title since 1992.

  • Darian Nelson became the first Plum football player in 25 years selected for the PSFCA Big 33 Football Classic.

  • Alaina Claassen won back-to-back WPIAL wrestling championships.

Beyond the trophies and titles, these achievements reflect our student-athletes hard work, teamwork, and perseverance.

Every day, our students show us what's possible when they set goals, work hard, and support one another.  They make Plum proud in academics, the arts, athletics, and or service.

To our students—thank you for your passion and dedication.  To our teachers, families, and community—thank you for supporting and cheering them on.  Together, we are building something special.

Let's keep the momentum going—Go, Mustangs!
