“In America today, 1 in 7 kids face hunger. Working with local partners across the country, No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger by ensuring that kids get the food they need, like healthy breakfast at school and free meals during the summertime.”

Despite conventional wisdom that says breakfast is the most important meal of the day, studies suggest that lunch might have an even greater impact on school-aged children than adults. Experts agree that since most kids don’t get breakfast or dinner at school and may not have any snacks until they get home, lunch is the only meal they have to power them through the day. Statistically, school lunch makes up one-third to one-half of a child's nutritional intake for an entire day and is essential for helping children learn, grow and stay healthy.

For the fifth year in a row, four amazing students from the Plum Borough School District have partnered with Pina and Layla’s Fundraiser for No Kid Goes Hungry to give children from different communities access to healthy food. This year’s virtual fundraiser will be donating half of their proceeds to the District’s Food Services Department to help with emergency feeding and summer food programs.
