Hello #PlumFamily,

The journey from idea to implementation sometimes feels like it happens in the blink of an eye. We take very seriously our responsibility to keep our students and employees safe while on our campuses, and recently celebrated the full installation of equipment that can monitor and communicate with the entire District. The ribbon cutting for the Security Vestibule was a giant step forward in our goals to be in step with the latest technology for school security systems.

Plum Borough School District and Plum Boro working together to make this project a reality, and celebrated the partnership with a ribbon cutting ceremony that was attended by Mayor Schlegel, the Plum Boro Council, Plum Boro Manager Mike Thomas, Plum Borough School District Board of Directors, administrators, and the community.

Past School Board Vice-President and Chair of Safe and Supportive Schools Vicky Roessler said, “A round of applause to the school board, council, and administration because this state-of-the-art vestibule/security center will make every school in our District safer. As I count down the [final] days as an elected official, I will leave knowing that Plum Borough School District is so much safer than it was four years ago. Together, we made safety a top priority.”

The capabilities of the Security Vestibule are expansive. The system monitors every building in the District with state-of-the-art technology. The cost of the project, estimated at $157,000, was underwritten by generous donations from several area corporations. Turtle Creek’s AB Specialties constructed the highly secure doors and glass. Encompass Building Group of Kensington structured the frame, installed the windows, and painted. CCL Technologies in Greensburg and Dagostino Electronic Services conducted the electrical work.
