This week, students at Plum Senior High were invited to attend a masterclass by world-class clarinetist Julian Bliss. It kicked off with a visit to Mrs. Loy’s music class where he gave students a sample of his work. Much to the delight of students, he listened to them perform and not only offered feedback and advice on preparing for solo performances and developing their skills but also helped them understand the importance of hard work, dedication, practice, and bringing passion to the performance, all valuable lessons that they can take with them throughout life.

An increasing percentage of Plum graduates continue their studies in music in college which inspired the District to make a commitment to supporting the arts and inspiring an appreciation for the arts and sparking a life-long curiosity about diverse cultures.

Mrs. Bethany Loy, high school music instructor, says, “The Plum Senior High School music program is a strong asset to the District. The program helps students learn and achieve through performance and provides our students opportunities for expression as well as an incredible feeling of belonging and being a part of creating something so much bigger than any individual could ever achieve on their own.”
