Welcome to Plum Borough School District's newsletter, PlumIS. This publication will bring you a bit closer to each of our buildings, highlighting the numerous positive stories that are happening all across the District. Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! The reopening of schools has been on the minds of many of us as we continue to consider the physical safety, social, and emotional well-being of our students. Many of us had questions about how our students were going to attend school this fall—hybrid format, fully online, asynchronous or synchronous, etc. It all felt quite overwhelming.

Plum Borough School District has created three instruction scenarios for families this school year: the District’s hybrid model, PlumFLEX, and the Plum Digital Learning Academy (PDLA). They were created in response to family feedback and evolving student needs.

Athletics Department Streams Events

New athletic fields were constructed over the summer months, offering students a place to maintain their physical fitness as they work as teams, encourage sportsmanship, and build competitive spirits. Many students have begun training on these fields, marking the beginning of the 2020 fall season.

Plum Senior High School Computer Science teacher, Mrs. Tamar McPherson, will be recognized at this year’s Carnegie Science Awards. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020.

The Digital Backpack, a Handy Resource for Families

The District created a digital backpack to help you navigate the new school year. There are several resources stemming from the District school and family calendars; Safe2Say, Food Services and Transportation information; and the District’s Code of Conduct.
