Students, teachers, and administrators at Plum Senior High School collaborated to create the first-ever Black Student Union, or BSU to help improve the learning and leadership experiences for Black students. BSU membership offers students valuable benefits, such as increasing their exposure to academic enrichment opportunities, improving socialization, raising awareness and appreciation for Black culture, and combating disciplinary differences. Plum juniors Aleah Thornton will serve as president and Alexis Thornton will serve as vice president. Jaralyn Kincaid serves as secretary and Zachary Fulton will serve as treasurer.

Oblock Teachers Team Up to Present at Statewide Conference

A team of teachers and administrators at Oblock Junior High School will team up to present at this year’s Pennsylvania Association for Middle Level Education (PAMLE), “a voice for professionals, parents, and others interested in the educational and developmental needs of young adolescents (youth 10-15 years of age)”, drawing attention from middle-level schools across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

District Team Participates in World Read Aloud Day

Mrs. Vicki Dziewulski, Library/Media at Oblock Junior High and Holiday Park Elementary, and Mrs. Kelly Wickersty, MTSS Reading Intervention Teacher at Holiday Park Elementary School, had the idea to participate in World Read Aloud Day and it was a success with over 1,224 views and 90 hours of engagement from participants from across the District.
