Marcia Cackowski Ballinger, Ph.D.
Class of 1979
Dr. Ballinger has more than 25 years in community college leadership roles that have advanced student success, workforce and economic development, strategic planning, and institutional advancement. Since 2011, she has served as Lorain County Community College’s Provost and Vice-President for Academic and Learner Services. Her national roles include serving as a member of Jobs for the Future’s Student Trust and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Student Success initiatives.
Randy Koslosky
Class of 1980
Randy Koslosky received a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, an MBA from Duquesne University, and has a career in business. An ongoing passion, however, has been music. His achievements in music resulted in his 2015 induction into the International Polka Association Hall of Fame. He has made significant contributions to the polka world as a performer, songwriter, studio musician, and producer. He was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2005 and has been a contributor to several other Grammy-nominated recordings.
Ben Sampson
Class of 1965
Ben Sampson is the third generation of a family building and development business. He started his own business, partnering with Jim Rumbaugh in residential development and Michael Morris in commercial properties. He received the Developer of the Year Award from the Society of Industrial Office Realtors and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 from the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks. He is also active in historical preservation and conservation, receiving numerous awards in both fields.
Myles Sampson (deceased)
Class of 1963
Myles Sampson was the founder and chief executive officer of Rimco Properties, Inc., which developed, owned and managed many properties. Along with his many business accolades, he was a philanthropic and generous man. In 1993, he established the Myles D. and J. Faye Sampson Family Foundation. He immersed himself in philanthropic and volunteer organizations such as Boy Scouts of America and the East Suburban YMCA. For the years 1999-2000, he received the Humanitarian Award “Man of the Year” in Westmoreland County.
James Sims
Class of 1977
Dedicating the past 41 years to the public safety of the Borough of Plum, Jim has served in police, fire, EMS and emergency management capacities. He joined the Holiday Park VFD when he was 15 years old and remains active today, currently holding the rank of Fire Chief. He was hired to the Plum Borough Police Department in 1980 where he served until 2004, retiring after being injured in the line of duty. He spearheaded the Plum and Monroeville Police Joint DUI Task Force, one of the first check point programs in Allegheny County.
